Bent out of shape

Seems building bents is hard work for all of the young folk.  Big thanks to Simon and Glen (Greg hmm should have paid more attention) For helping today.  The three main members are ready for set up tomorrow. Some photos:

Yes they were here and not at the golf course.
The tops all bundled together
First top being moved into position
The first peg, sorta like the last spike only different.
Three bents ready to roll.
All the drawings on the wall, hope it don't rain.
Our goody table, pins and lag bolts
The bents from above.
So all in all a pretty successful day and very busy.  I finished the day with some holes through the structure to lag the posts to and a 5/8 spacer to allow the drywall to go behind each post.  Some vapour barrier tomorrow and we should be ready.  The beams are massive with some being 12 inches by 8 inches, something a person would need a whole Amish community to do without the crane so tomorrow should be as busy as today.

  1. Wow - what a beautiful set - I love mortise and tenon work. It is ultra cool that the best way to join something is with a large wooden peg! Way to go
