Another milestone in the land of house construction

As predicted, it didn't take very long to finish the shop siding and soffits. I started on June 11th and finished today June 18th that would be one week. The only thing left would be the window cross units and the drywall on the ceiling neither of which prevented me from getting my final inspection done.

The finished shop
We took permits out in May of 2010 so after 3 years and 1 month we can finally take down all the permits.
Now you see them

Now you don't

What should I do now hmmmmm maybe have a beer and celebrate.

Finally it's time to pretty up the shop

I'm sure my neighbours were wondering if we would leave the shop covered in Cariboo siding. (House wrap)  It was all in the grand plan.  So out comes the cutting jig for the siding. The shop has long straight sides so it won't take too long.

Setting up for cutting

I started on the south wall and was done in a couple of hours.

The front wall goes as high as the mid band where the board and batten starts.

I finished the North wall and then finished the siding on the back wall.  Then it was time to set up some scaffolding for the upper gable end. This will need a bit of flashing and trim around the window as well.
Hardie board and soffits completed on the North half

Battens done on the North and time to move the scaffolding.

It's been raining like mad on and off so this is taking longer than I had hoped. The cooler weather is making this job quite pleasant if it wasn't for the mud around the shop.  Hoping for dryer weather and a completion on the weekend.

Garage doors are done

Nice new springs for my heavy wood doors and a couple of rods to tighten them up

Around and around till I see 8 spirals

Finally, a two car garage

Bikes are hung and the tires are in the rack

This is Cathryn's stop point

When the airplane hits the windshield I'm there

Just one last thing to do.

We are looking for some paint to change the colour of the windows to match the house. Another long awaited task getting finished.

Here are a couple of photos of our lastest bluegrass jam.

Everyone seems to enjoy this although it is a bit of work for some of them.
