Mom and Dad Hawkins visit for a few days

Happy Canada Day!  The weather at 108 Mile was great today - neither too hot nor too cold.  Mom and Cath went down to the historical site and bumped into a community celebration complete with vendors, food, and entertainment.  We saw a bit of the belly dancing group then headed back to the lot where Len was continuing with putting together the 2nd course.  Dad was working on fixing a leaky seal around the windshield of his RV.  It was a happy event when we finished the second course of the house and checked for level and straight and could say it was good. We put in the last of the stiffening frames, rebar and zip locks and then Len secured the first course to the footings with spray foam adhesive.  This is Mom and Dad's last day with us, so we are going out for dinner at the local restaurant, Vidas, right on the lake.  It is owned by the wife of our engineer, Jeff. Len is determined to take the whole evening off in celebration of Canada Day, our visitors, and having achieved a certain level of completion.  Now only about 6 more levels to complete. And as they get higher, it will be more challenging to do it.  Luckily Ken brought a bunch of ladders which we will need.  The pictures give you an idea of what we were up to today.

  2. Second visit to these early days (having read my way to Friday Aug 29, 2012)! When I came through the first time I had not learned that I could click on the pictures and see them blown up with the detail that I could not see before. You guys really did a super job blogging and keeping a photo record!
