What has Len been up to? Lots of things. Gardening. Cleaning up. Spending time in the shop on the Cessna. House-wise? Garage! Garage doors! Not such a big deal right now but sure will be nice to drag my groceries in under cover when the snow starts to fly.

First was a beef up for the opener attach point |
|
Next was the completion of the drywall on the ceiling |
To comply with code and get our permit signed off , the landing in the garage had to be a certain size. This placed the step into the door opening so that has to go. I took the landing out to shorten it which also allows room for the door track.

A little modification needed |
|
The tracking is next |
Then the door sections which I created in Kelowna 2 years ago. The cost to purchase 2 doors made of wood like these would be $7300. These should be just fine.
|
Adding the sections |
|
One door complete |
|
2 doors from the inside |
|
Two doors almost done. |
The framing is a little off for the height so a small extension on the bottom of the door will be needed. The trim is not in place so that will fill the upper gap as well. I intend to paint the windows to match the colour of the house windows eventually. Now on to the motor drives. I purchased 3 openers complete from an installation firm in Kelowna. They were taken out of some hockey players mansion when he did a door upgrade. I got all three for $50 and that gives me a spare in case of problems.
Back to the garage,
Len
Nice doors! You guys must have been planning for years on all these design details. Missing your weekly updates but with spring having sprung I understand - time for blogging is much reduced.
